Vered Rosen
Art for life
In my work I deal with the effects of memory, the subconscious, desires and fantasies over the perception of reality.
Using digitally manipulated photographs, often combined with neon lights as well as many different printing materials, I examine the components of the dream based on Freudian theories, I dismantle and rebuild it, turning a dream into a reality and the reality into a fantasy.
Mirrors
2022-2025
In Mirrors, Vered Rosen continues her long-term exploration of the shifting boundaries between fantasy and reality.
Printed photographs on mirrored surfaces merge image and reflection, inviting the viewer into a space where memory, perception, and the self dissolve into one another.
Oh The Places You'll Go...
2018
In her new exhibition, “Oh the Places You’ll Go . . .,” Vered Rosen presents collages based on digital photography and manipulation, creating amalgams of different places to which she has traveled around the world. The atmosphere pervading these works is optimistic and surreal. The images were culled from Rosen’s memories, and the works are based on her personal photograph album – places she visited, trips she took and experiences she had.
Neon Glow
2015 - 2018
The series "Neon Glow" detach the photographs from the daily reality and illuminates it with extravagant light. However, as the torch light illuminates the darkness yet at the same time casts shadows, so do the neon works, and it is possible to recognize the blackened figures as a repetitive element, a constant reminder of the existence of the darkness.
Escape Room
2017
Vered Rosen׳s room is full of objects of desire, jam-packed, bursting. It offers a glimpse into a culture of abundance – excess, too much of everything. On can easily get lost in the dazzling, distracting, stimulating abundance. In the photographic installation, Vered Rosen reconstructs the memory of
her private room – a space that takes shape between reality and fantasy, the documentary and the fictional, simultaneously inviting and menacing.
POLE DANCE
2016
The series "POLE DANCE" can be regarded as a representation of the most basic primal impulses, dark urges, attraction and rejection for a forbidden pleasure.
These images use the viewer's prior knowledge of the genre to create images of pseudo-seduction, but the seduction is elusive and multi- layered, and is not easily presented to the viewer. These images bound together the temptation, the danger, the loneliness and the Playfulness, wrapped in a shell of minimalist and mysterious aesthetics.
PRIVILEGED LIFE
2007 - 2019
The series " PRIVILEGED LIFE" is a long term photographic project. For over than 10 years I have document scenes, landscapes and still life at sites and events of the economic elites in Israel and abroad. The scenes offer a glimpse into the culture that is being built around the lifestyle of this group. It represents the conscious processes, desires based on the capitalist concept, and are driven by proponents of consumer culture. However, it is hard to ignore the ironic and critical point of view over this culture which appears through this series of photographs.
Kaleidoscope
2015
The word "kaleidoscope" is taken from the Greek language and means "looking at a beautiful picture". Kaleidoscope is an optical device / children's game based on symmetrical shapes in many colors as each round of the roll introduces a new pattern from a variety of colors and patterns that change.
I photograph, to commemorate the moment, the camera serves as a memory card for me and, like a kaleidoscope, my entire photography comes out of a great variety of colorful riches and images and presents a unique new and different image.
